Free Stock Photo Websites

Raise your hand if you've ever used an image found on Google. Raise your hand if you've ever spent a significant amount of time searching through Google's images to use for a design, post, power point, etc.

I hope to alleviate hours of searching for you. Below are free (always check the copyright) stock photo sites that I use when I'm in need of something specific.

1. Barn Images - Offers a variety of free images ranging from backgrounds to people. They do offer a premium membership which is pretty great also.

2. Unsplash - Is a site that delivers 10 completely free images every 10 days. They have some really beautiful shots so check out their library.

3. Magdeleine - Filled with inspiring images Magdeleine is a sure stop on the road of stock photography.

4. Kaboompics - Kaboompics has such an awesome library of images. Be careful though you may go looking for one image and leave with a dozen.

5. Graphic Stock - This is a bonus and is not free. But for a small yearly subscription you get access to tons and tons of art, images, elements and more.

UPDATE! 6. Good Free Photos - A large public domain photo repository containing thousands of free to use public domain photos. It is especially good with travel and locational photos.

As a photographer, my standards for stock photography are pretty high. Most of the time I prefer to take my own images. But when that isn't doable I turn to sites that offer high-quality images at a low/free cost depending on the project I'm working on.

Use good stock photography not bad. Don't be that person who uses a 10KB image in a presentation. Or the person who uses an image with a clear copyright overlay. When you can't take the photo yourself, take pride in finding and using beautiful, high-quality photos. Your clients, competitors and co-workers will notice.

I've been trying to figure out a good caption for the main photo above. Please share any you may have.
